6. Charlotte Hornets – Jarace Walker, F, Houston

The Charlotte Hornets could be a franchise in a bit of a transition and it may not end with a possible change of ownership. LaMelo Ball appears to be the only clear foundational piece for the franchise and with another top-10 pick, the Hornets will be tasked with finding another core piece for the team moving forward. However, that could be difficult even selecting No. 6. One potential option for the team is Jarace Walker, a 6-foot-8 big out of Houston.

Walker may not be a headlining name in this year’s NBA Draft class but he should be. He’s coming off a freshman season in which he averaged 11 points and seven rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent shooting from 3-point range. And he’s just beginning to hit his stride as a prospect.

Walker is the type of prospect that may end up blossoming once he gets to the NBA on a level that we can’t see at the moment. If nothing else, he’s a do-everything glue guy that every successful team in the NBA needs on their roster. For a team that has a need in the frontcourt, Walker seems like a seamless fit for the Hornets.
