This will be the last we see of this Toronto Raptors’ core
The Toronto Raptors are one of the teams that will have some big questions to answer heading into the offseason. Especially after how immersed they were in the rumor mill at the NBA Trade Deadline, this is a team that could be on the verge of some big changes. And one of my bold predictions for the NBA Play-In Tournament is that this is the last we will see of this current Raptors’ core.
I can’t imagine that Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr., OG Anunoby, and Pascal Siakam will all be on the Raptors at the start of next season. Even less so if head coach Nick Nurse elects to step away from the team this offseason. I’m not sure what the Raptors will do this offseason but I have a feeling that this team is headed toward a retooling.
Whether this is the offseason where the Raptors give all the reins over to Scottie Barnes is something that we will all find out together, but that time could be close. If I had to guess, we’ll see a semi-retooling from the Raptors.
I don’t believe the Raptors are going to clean house and completely rebuild around Barnes, but I suppose we also can’t entirely rule that out.
