Cason Wallace, G, Kentucky

At least in my opinion, Cason Wallace would be a great fit for the Indiana Pacers initially. He doesn’t necessarily need the ball in his hands to be all that effective. If the Pacers want to play him more off-ball, they can. He’s a great defender (possibly the best backcourt one in this year’s NBA Draft class) and has the foundation to be a good 3-point shooter – he shot 35 percent from deep during his freshman season at Kentucky.

If the Pacers want to use him off the bench to anchor a second unit, they can too. He is a good playmaker and averaged four assists per game this past season. The Pacers could be viewed as a great fit for Wallace considering they wouldn’t need him to be the savior as soon as he steps into the building. That’s not a position that I believe Wallace would thrive in, at least not initially.

He would have time to develop at his own pace next to a young, but experienced group in Indiana. And perhaps in a few years, Wallace could end up being a worthy running mate next to Haliburton. He has that level of potential.
