Looking at the latest injury update between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. Will Domantas Sabonis play in Game 3?
As the Sacramento Kings hold a 2-0 series lead against the Golden State Warriors in the first round of their NBA Playoff series, there’s a sense that they should feel good about where they have the defending champions. However, I can’t help but feel as if the Kings almost have to win one game in Golden State before the series shifts back to Sacramento for Game 5.
And Game 3 may be the best opportunity for that to happen for the Kings. That’s because Draymond Green is suspended for Game 3 after stepping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis late in Game 2. However, heading into Game 3, there was some doubt that the Kings could also be without Sabonis, who suffered a sternum injury because of the chest stomp.
Will Domanta Sabonis play in Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors?
Originally being listed as questionable for Game 3, it appears that Sabonis is trending in the right direction. On Wednesday, Kings head coach Mike Brown gave the best possible update regarding Sabonis’ availability ahead of Thursday night’s Game 3 against the Warriors. He told reporters that Sabonis is “fine” and that he will play in Game 3.
Sabonis has been a huge part of the team’s success through these first two games against the Warriors, averaging 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists per game on 45 percent shooting from the field.
And if he was going to be out for Game 3, it would’ve created some big issues for a player that is such an integral of the NBA-best offense.
For the Warriors, who will be without Draymond, their job gets that much more difficult heading into Game 3. The good news for the Warriors is that they’ll be back on their home floor, where they’re one of the best teams in the league.
During the regular season, Golden State had the third-best home record in the NBA. While the Kings were a good road team this season, they will truly be tested. This will be the first playoff road game for many of their players and it’ll be interesting to see how they react.
If both teams were at full strength, you would assume that the Warriors would have the upper hand heading into Game 3 in the Chase Center. However, with Draymond’s suspension, anything is on the table for a pivotal Game 3.
