NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers could try to make a big splash this offseason by targeting Trae Young via trade.
After the NBA Trade Deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers have been a completely different team. And that has carried over into the NBA Playoffs. Heading into a Game 3 on their home floor, the Lakers are tied with the second-seed Memphis Grizzlies at 1-1. There’s at least a chance the Lakers could at the very least make it out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
And considering where this team was just a couple of months ago, that’s pretty impressive. Neverthless, no matter what happens the rest of this postseason, short of the Lakers winning the title, there’s a strong chance that this team is going to enter the offseason in hopes of making a big splash.
LeBron James is not getting any younger and the team needs to capitalize on the final few moments of his playing career. And as he continues to play at a high level, trying to land another star player for him to play next to will be at the forefront of the team’s hopes this offseason.
And according to a recent report, one player that many around the league believe the Lakers will target is Trae Young, who the Atlanta Hawks could look to move during the offseason. At the very least, the Hawks are expected to take a look at where the team stands and explore the possibility of making some roster changes.
The Los Angeles Lakers would be an interesting fit for Trae Young
Whether or not the Hawks come to the conclusion of trading Young remains to be seen, but it seems that there are many teams around the league that would be interested. And the Lakers are one of them, it appears.
And the Lakers would be an interesting potential landing spot for Young if he does indeed get traded. The trio of Young, LeBron, and Anthony Davis would automatically be the best trio in the NBA.
Young is known for his absurd potential on the offensive end of the floor but he’s a better playmaker than he gets credit for. Young is coming off a season in which he averaged 10 assists per game.
Who knows if the Lakers have enough assets to get a deal done with the Atlanta Hawks, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on heading into the offseason.
