Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are probably the biggest threat at the moment to steal James Harden away from the Philadelphia 76ers. Of course, that can change over the course of the next few weeks leading up to the start of free agency. But the noise surrounding a possible Harden reunion in Houston has been loud over the past few weeks. There have been multiple reports and there seems to be a real chance that it’s at least a possibility that ends up happening this offseason.

If the Rockets are ready to make a move up the West standings, signing a player like Harden is probably a way to do so. Adding Harden to an already talented young core would help this team take a tangible step forward. For everything Harden isn’t, he is a good player that has great experience and he would have a relatively good influence on the team’s talented young players.

All that said, there’s a lot that has to happen for this to actually come to fruition. And considering where the Rockets are at this point in their rebuild, it would still be somewhat surprising. But I also don’t think we can entirely rule it out.
