NBA Mock Draft 8.0: Raptors take a high-risk prospect; Lakers get a steal in round 1
2. San Antonio Spurs – Scoot Henderson, G, G League Ignite
The San Antonio Spurs will have plenty of options if they end up with the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. You can make an argument that the NBA Draft truly begins at No. 2 since we already know that whoever ends up with the No. 1 overall pick will be selecting Victor Wembanyama. And when the Spurs go up to pick, this is a team that could just take the best player available.
For a team that is in the beginning stages of its rebuild, they don’t really have to worry much about fit – unless it comes to an organizational fit. That said, once the pre-draft process is officially over, I believe that Scoot Henderson is going to firmly settle in as the second-best overall prospect in this year’s class. And he’d be a great fit for the Spurs as potentially the team’s new face moving forward.
Henderson has everything you want in a potential superstar. He has great size for the point guard position, great athleticism, and the foundation to be a go-to scorer in this league. Don’t be surprised if Henderson doesn’t become the league’s next great guard.
