NBA Trade Rumors: Heading into the offseason, the Brooklyn Nets could trade two key contributors. Will the Nets be aggressive this offseason?
What was looking like a potentially great season for the Brooklyn Nets ended up being quite a disaster. Both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were traded ahead of the deadline and while the team managed to sneak into the NBA Playoffs as the sixth seed, they lose in four games at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Heading into the offseason, the Nets are a team that must figure out a new course of action. Do they retool around Mikal Bridges, who has looked like an absolute star since arriving in Brooklyn or do they go down a complete rebuild and perhaps sell all of their assets when they’re hot?
It’s an interesting question that the Nets will have to respond to with action at the NBA Draft in free agency. According to a recent report, though, it seems that at the very least the Nets will be open to some changes. They will likely shop Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O’Neale this offseason. Both are expected to be hot trade targets during the summer and could bring back multiple first-round picks.
How aggressive will the Brooklyn Nets be this offseason?
I don’t think it would be all that surprising if the Nets ended up making a trade or two during the offseason to thin out their roster. In fact, that’s probably the case for most teams in Brooklyn’s position. The big question is, how aggressive will the Nets be this offseason? And who will the Nets make available via trade?
With the way Bridges played after the NBA Trade Deadline, it would be extremely surprising if the Nets moved him. But would it really be all that surprising if the Nets swapped Finney-Smith and/or O’Neale for a few future draft assets?
The Nets may have entered the playoffs as the sixth seed but they were only 12-15 after the trade deadline and lost all four games to the Sixers in the first round of the playoffs.
Are the Nets heading in the right direction? Probably. Have they found a star in Bridges? Possibly. Despite that, this team needs to continue to build the foundation for the next era of Nets basketball.
The big question revolves around what that ultimately means for the Nets heading into the offseason. But there are several Nets’ pieces that will be hot commodities on the trade market.
