There are at least a few prospects in this year’s draft class that have franchise-altering potential.

As collections and collections of NBA Mock Drafts are spurned out over the next couple of months leading into the 2023 NBA Draft, there is a ton of speculation without much certainty. But that’s part of what makes the NBA Draft (and its “season”) special.

While we continue to try to predict which prospect will go where on NBA Draft Day, it’s also fun to try to project which prospects will eventually translate to superstars at the next level. It is almost never cut and dry, but there are times you can predict based on skill set and potential.

As we inch closer and closer to the NBA Draft, we predict 5 prospects from this year’s draft class that have franchise-altering potential.

Victor Wembanyama, C, France

Heading into this year’s NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama is by far the most prized possession. He’s viewed as one of the best draft prospects in decades and is unanimously labeled as a generational talent. He’s going to change the way the center position is played once again in the NBA and who knows what he’s going to be labeled as when it comes to a position when his career is over.

Victor can score from anywhere on the floor – in transition, from deep, and is almost impossible to cover 1-on-1 due to his unique pairing of athleticism, handle, and length. Whichever team ends up with the No. 1 overall pick will automatically be viewed as a franchise on the rise.

Victor is expected to change any franchise he lands on from day 1 and is largely going to be expected to have a huge impact on the league from the minute he steps on the floor. He’s the epitome of a franchise-changing prospect in this year’s NBA Draft.
