Kyle Kuzma, player option
Hailing from Flint, Michigan, it would only be right to consider Kyle Kuzma. Giving back to his Boys and Girls program in Flint, he still has ties to the area. His growth from star to supporting cast back to a featured role talks about how flexible Kuzma is as a player. In a more featured role with the Wizards, Kuzma averaged just a shade over 21 points on less-than-stellar percentages but there was an adjustment period for him.
While not the star player like he was in LA, and not eh supporting piece with LeBron, he has found his sweet spot. Washington was the best-coached organization but they sure are faithful and that is concerning. If Washington gets desperate to keep Kuzma, I don’t know if the Pistons can top that offer.
Handling a 5-year difference between Draymond and himself, (28 and 33 respectively) allows for Kuzma to be the older brother and less the grumpy uncle. Kuzma is a tad of a reckless jump shooter averaging 33% from deep, but you have to respect it because he can make it if you leave him open. There is one area the Pistons have been lacking in and that is the deep ball. Finding capable jump shooters to space the floor will allow for the dynamic guards to get to the basket.
Like the Jerami Grant situation, acquiring and letting Kuzma spread his wings can be beneficial for not only him but the team. Adding another scorer to a capable ball-moving team sets the Pistons up for much success.
