2. Cam Whitmore, Villanova
At this point in the small forward rankings, this is where we see a bit of a gap. The top two small-forward prospects are likely a great deal ahead of the rest.
Considered one of the 10-best prospects in this year’s NBA Draft class, there should be plenty of excitement around the potential of Cam Whitmore. He didn’t get the big stage during the college postseason considering that Villanova didn’t qualify for the NCAA Tournament, but this is a prospect that likely still has his best basketball in front of him. And he’s one of the prospects that many believe to have long-term star potential of the prospects outside the unanimous top 4.
During his freshman season at Villanova, Whitmore averaged 13 points and five rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s an explosive athlete with the ball in his hands on the offensive end and has shown the potential to be a good defender on the other end of the floor.
If he can put it all together in the NBA, there’s no question that he has the potential to develop into a star player down the line.
