The good bet: Scoot Henderson, G, G League Ignite

In any other draft class, you could make the argument that Scoot Henderson would be the No. 1 overall prospect. However, because of Victor Wembanyama, Henderson is likely to be the No. 2 pick. But whoever lands the second overall selection should be pretty happy with Henderson. He has the potential to be an explosive lead guard in the NBA. And has future star written all over him.

He has elite athleticism at the guard position, good enough size at 6-foot-2, and has proven to be a capable defender on the other end of the floor. He can be a spark to any offense and has a knack for making something out of nothing. But like many young offensive talents, the true questions come with his decision-making and ability to consistently hit jump shots.

Overall, Henderson has everything you look for in the face of the franchise. He’s not just going to be a budding star when he enters the league, but he’ll be expected to lead a franchise into a new era of success. Look at what Ja Morant has done for the Memphis Grizzlies and what Anthony Edwards has done for the Minnesota Timberwolves; Henderson will have similar expectations when he enters the league.

And I’d have confidence he could live up to it.
