San Antonio Spurs*

Before we jump into why this deal would make sense for both sides, let’s start with some context to such a hypothetical deal. If the San Antonio Spurs were to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, they would no longer be interested in Deandre Ayton. In the event that they don’t and they come away with one of the top guards, a move for Ayton could very much be back on the table.

In this deal, the Spurs would get a star big man that they can develop under the tutelage of Gregg Popovich, along with the rest of this team’s young core. The Suns would get a revamped supporting cast in exchange for Ayton, which is probably the goal for the team heading into the offseason.

Zach Collins is a good center and doesn’t get nearly the credit that he deserves. Doug McDermott is still one of the best 3-point shooters in the league and he’d be a fit next to Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Devonte’ Graham is another player that could possibly play a role in the backcourt of the team, especially if the Suns do end up moving on from Chris Paul too this offseason.
