New Orleans Pelicans
Heading into the offseason, the New Orleans Pelicans, at least in my opinion, should be one of the emerging young teams that should be in the market for another veteran star to help them take the next step in their progression. While you can make the argument that remaining healthy will go a long way in this team taking a step forward this upcoming season, I would also argue that another veteran presence such as Chris Paul could have a similar impact.
The Pelicans are one of the most talented teams from top to bottom in the Western Conference. Even though Paul is no longer in the prime of his career, he’s certainly a player that could still make a difference for a team like the Pelicans – one without much playoff experience.
On the other hand, there could be some concerns when it comes to a possible fit between Paul and CJ McCollum, which are natural. But you kind of let two players that talented figure things out. I’m not sure the Pelicans are going to try to make such a splash move this offseason but if they do end up making a big move, Paul should not be off the table.
