4. Detroit Pistons

Pre-lottery odds of landing the No. 1 overall pick: 14%

The Detroit Pistons are one of the teams that will head into the NBA Draft Lottery with the best odds to land the No. 1 overall pick. Even though they already have a talented young core, there’s no question that this team would be in an even better position build-wise by adding a player like Victor Wembanyama. Victor is the prospect that could lead the Pistons into the new era of Detroit basketball.

Let’s think of it this way: if the Pistons were to land the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, they would have a core of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Jalen Duren, and Wembanyama. Even though they would still need time to develop, at least on paper, it would be a great start and foundation.

Add in the fact that the Pistons have not won a playoff series since the 2007-08 season, and they are a team that has a strong argument for earning the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft. And if the basketball gods agree, there’s a strong chance that does end up happing considering they have the best odds.
