25. Memphis Grizzlies – Colby Jones, G, Xavier
With as much uncertainty that revolves around Dillon Brooks and now Ja Morant, it would be extremely surprising if the Memphis Grizzlies didn’t ultimately add to the backcourt this offseason. And they can start to do so with the No. 25 overall pick in the NBA Draft. One player that would make sense at this point is Colby Jones.
Jones was one of the most productive guards in college basketball last season, averaging 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists on 51 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s another underrated player that could end up paying dividends for a team like the Grizzlies.
26. Indiana Pacers (via Cleveland Cavaliers) – Maxwell Lewis, F, Pepperdine
With a solid foundational core, Maxwell Lewis is a player that could make sense for the Indiana Pacers late in the first round. He translates as a 3-and-D contributor and a player that could grow well beyond that. But that’s kind of the gamble with selecting Lewis. He may not have as high of a ceiling as some of the other players at his position but is coming off a season in which he averaged 17 points and six rebounds on 35 percent shooting from 3-point range.
If he can translate to the speed and quickness of the NBA level quickly, there’s a chance that Lewis can be a contributor right away for the Pacers.
