2. Charlotte Hornets – winner
The Charlotte Hornets had the fourth-best odds to get the No. 1 overall pick, and while they weren’t able to jump up to the top spot, they did jump two spots and got the No. 2 overall pick.
They will likely choose between Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller, with the decision potentially coming down to team fit. Henderson is a tremendous point guard prospect with elite length who is a fantastic athlete, a great passer, and can shoot mid-range jumpers pretty effectively. However, they already have a talented young point guard in LaMelo Ball, so they may not want another high-usage ball handler.
If the Hornets believe Henderson won’t be a good fit next to Ball, they could take Brandon Miller, who had a phenomenal freshman season at Alabama in which he was one of the top players in the country as a freshman and led the Crimson Tide to a one seed in the NCAA tournament.
No matter what they do, the Hornets are going to get a good player who likely wouldn’t have been available if their pick landed outside the top three.
