What to expect from Victor Wembanyama
Victor Wembanyama is a terrific prospect who has a remarkably high ceiling on both ends of the floor due to his size, shooting, ball handling, and ability to protect the rim. He also has a lot of skills that will make him a valuable player, even if he fails to be a high-usage creator. This gives him a high floor and a low chance of busting, barring injury.
In my opinion, he is a historically good prospect and one of the best prospects in recent memory. I don’t know if he’s the best prospect of all time, but he is the best prospect I’ve scouted since 2019, and he’s possibly on par with some of the best prospects we’ve ever seen, including Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Ralph Sampson, LeBron James, and Luka Doncic.
Victor Wembanyama is a unicorn whose film looks like a grown man playing on those mini basketball hoops you attach to your bedroom door. There’s never been a player like him, so it’s impossible to know what to expect from him. However, I think he will be a high-level starter for a long time with a good chance of becoming a perennial All-NBA caliber player, health permitting.
I’m not going to say he will become a Hall of Famer because that would be a ridiculous expectation for a player who isn’t even old enough to drink. Let me be clear, though. Victor Wembanyama is an elite prospect who, without a doubt, has all of the talent in the world to end up in the basketball Hall of Fame one day. He truly is that special.
