Trade assets: 1. Anthony Davis 2. LeBron James 3. Post-LeBron first-round picks

The Los Angeles Lakers may be a bit short of their hopeful NBA Championship run but there’s no question that they’re going to go all-in heading into next season. And if they do, they’ll have to do so via trade. And the Lakers have just enough trade assets where they could likely make one more sizeable move to try and get this team over the hump in the Western Conference next season.

But it won’t be with any of their top two trade assets, which are Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Both players appeared tied at the hip over the course of the next few seasons and it would be surprising if either player was moved at all by the Lakers. But on the open market, AD and LeBron are easily two of the better players that hold the most trade value.

If the Lakers do end up making a move during the offseason, it will likely be thanks in part to future first-round picks. And that is, by far, the next best trade asset that the Lakers have concrete control over heading into the offseason.

With as much uncertainty that revolves around this franchise in the post-LeBron era, it’s easy to see why those could be highly coveted assets on the open market.
