In Game 5, it was all Boston Celtics from the opening tip. They are now two wins away from a historic comeback in the Eastern Conference Finals.

It was quite evident from the opening tip of Game 5 that the Boston Celtics had new-found life and that they would extend the Eastern Conference Finals to a Game 6 in Miami. A series that was once a commanding 3-0 lead for the Miami Heat has now turned into a true battle.

After embarrassing the Heat in Game 5, the Celtics are now two wins away from being the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-0 series lead.

Despite putting two good performances together, the Celtics still have their work cut out for them in this series. There’s a reason why no team has ever come back from down 3-0 in a series. But the Celtics do have life. And heading into Game 6, they have a golden opportunity in front of them.

The one big change that has helped the Celtics turn this series around is their improved 3-point shooting. During the first three games of this series, the Celtics shot over 30 percent from 3-point range just once. In the last two wins, the Celtics have shot 40 and 41 percent from 3 respectively.

If Boston is going to force a Game 7, a good indication is going to be found at the 3-point line.

Nevertheless, considering where this team was just a few days ago, the Celtics should feel good about their chances heading into Saturday night’s clash in Miami.

Real context for the Miami Heat

For an 8th seed, let’s get real context for the Miami Heat. After going up 3-0 in the series, the last two games have been an absolute disappointment. However, considering the circumstances, the Heat should not be surprised. Miami should not be surprised that the second seed has fought back.

They should not be surprised that one of the NBA Finals favorites is not going out sad. Had I told the Heat that they would be up 3-2 in the series with a chance to close out the Celtics on their home floor in Game 6, they would take that 10 out of 10 times.

And despite the noise, that’s the opportunity in front of them heading into Game 6. Will they finish the job? Who knows. But that’s why we play the games. Let the games decide themselves. But there’s no question this is a great opportunity for the Heat, and now, the Celtics. Buckle up, this weekend will be historic either way.
