TyTy Washington
If the Philadelphia 76ers were looking to find a point guard in a potential sign-and-trade with the Houston Rockets, one option that could arise is a move for TyTy Washington Jr. He was a late first-round pick by the Rockets last season but didn’t get the opportunity to show his worth in a crowded backcourt during his rookie year. He finished the year playing in only 31 games, averaging five points on 36 percent shooting from the field.
Despite the rough start to his career, there’s no question that Washington could have a bright future in front of him. But there may not be much opportunity for Washington behind Jalen Green, Kevin Porter, perhaps Amen Thompson (if he ends up being the selection in the 2023 NBA Draft), and (now) James Harden.
Even if he isn’t moved to the Sixers, there’s no question that Washington may need a fresh start. But considering how well Tyrese Maxey has turned out to be, it wouldn’t be in the least surprising for the Sixers to want to take a show on Washington.
If it is indeed a foregone conclusion that Harden is going to leave the Sixers, Philadelphia has to find a way to make a sign-and-trade deal work. Can they pull it off?
