NBA Trade Rumors: The Toronto Raptors should prepare themselves to trade OG Anunoby this offseason. Here are five trade ideas the team should consider.

The Toronto Raptors have a huge offseason ahead of them with a lot of potential change in tow. Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. have player options that they could decline and elect to enter Free Agency. Plus, Jakob Poeltl (who the Raptors traded a protected 1st rounder for at this deadline) is an outright Free Agent. Then, come the trade rumors surrounding Pascal Siakam, and the man this article is about…OG Anunoby.

It would seem that just about the only person safe on the Raptors roster right now is 21-year-old Scottie Barnes. Also, with so many questions on the Raptors’ roster, it makes it tough to judge the potential trades in terms of impact. Are the Raptors going to be headed into a full-on rebuild? Are they just going to be re-tooling?

Anunoby is one of the top two-way players in the league. He averaged 16.8 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a league leading1.9 steals per game this season. He shot 47.6% from the field, 38.7% from three, and 83.8% from the line.

Anunoby was also a second-team NBA All-Defensive team player this year. Anunoby has averaged 1.4 steals per game or more each of the past four seasons and is seen as one of the top defensive wings in the league. Pair that with his strong shooting and overall scoring, and you can see why he is so highly thought of.

The Toronto Raptors nearly traded OG Anunoby at the trade deadline

Toronto entertained trade offers for Anunoby this past trade deadline, but ultimately elected to add to their team (in the aforementioned trade for Poeltl) instead of detracting from it. At the deadline, the Raptors were reportedly asking for somewhere in the range of three 1st round picks (or an equivalent in terms of players). However, with Anunoby potentially only locked up for one more year (he has a $19.9 million player option for 2024/25 that he will likely decline in an attempt to get a long-term deal worth more money), his value might be less now than it was then (just due to length of contract remaining, not because his play has dipped).

Therefore, if a team trades for Anunoby then they are taking a risk that he might leave next offseason for nothing (or they will have to give him a handsome raise for him to stay).

Still, with a player as impactful as Anunoby is on both ends of the court, it won’t be easy to pry Anonoby away from Toronto (nor should it be). With all of that being said, here are five trade packages for OG Anunoby that the Raptors should consider:
