The Portland Trail Blazers trading the No. 3 pick
In an attempt to help appease Damian Lillard this offseason, there’s at least a non-zero chance (and perhaps even a much greater one) that the Portland Trail Blazers end up trading the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. While many would say that isn’t a smart decision in a class that is largely considered a three-player draft, it has certainly become somewhat of a realistic option recently.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers are willing to trade the No. 3 pick for an “elite” player. That means that if the Blazers do end up trading the No. 3 pick, it would be in a blockbuster deal that would certainly include a second star making the move to Portland to play alongside Lillard.
The Blazers trading the No. 3 pick would not only shake up the top of the NBA Draft but it would have a huge impact on the rest of the league heading into the offseason. It could be a move that ends up changing the entire landscape of the Western Conference heading into free agency and the rest of the summer.
