The Spurs moving back into the lottery

The San Antonio Spurs may get greedy heading into the 2023 NBA Draft. They have already earned the right to select Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick but that may not be the only highlight of the team’s night. According to a recent report, the Spurs are interested or are exploring the possibility of trading back into the lottery in an attempt to add a point guard.

It remains to be seen if the Spurs would be willing to meet what the demand would be for the team to add another lottery pick, but they’re at least exploring that option. And if they were to add a second lottery pick, it would absolutely be one of the bigger headlines from draft night.

Could you imagine if the Spurs exit the NBA Draft with a starting 5 of Cason Wallace or Nick Smith Jr., Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and Victor Wembanyama? They’d immediately be one of the best young teams in the NBA. Just a couple of months ago, the Spurs were one of the worst teams (and rosters) in the league. If they can somehow add another lottery pick, without messing with the established core, they’d be in a great spot heading into the future.
