Oklahoma City Thunder

In the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder appear to be a team that is “up next.” And you can make the case that instead of another lottery prospect, the Thunder should try to flip their No. 12 overall pick for either a future asset that could help them acquire a veteran star down the line or some veteran rotation players that could help bolster this team’s depth. And with this trade down with the San Antonio Spurs, they would accomplish both of those things.

The Thunder would get Zach Collins, Doug McDermott, and a protected first-round pick from the Spurs in exchange for the 12th overall pick. San Antonio could move forward with their goal of acquiring a second lottery pick to add a point guard while the Thunder would get two rotation-worthy players that could help them now.

Collins is coming off the best season of his career and could solidify the Thunder’s frontcourt, especially under the assumption that the team will bring Chet Holmgren along slowly. McDermott is a professional 3-point marksman that would add depth on the wing.
