In hopes of landing a potential sign-and-trade deal for D’Angelo Russell, we explore three ambitious trade ideas that the Los Angeles Lakers should explore.

The Los Angeles Lakers will have their hands full this offseason. Not only will they have to manage LeBron James and the noise that is currently surrounding him heading into the summer, but they’ll also have to figure out how to put themselves in a position where they will emerge as a championship contender once again next season.

One player that could end up playing a huge role in the team’s offseason is D’Angelo Russell, who is an unrestricted free agent.

Will the Lakers trade D’Angelo Russell?

A recent report suggests that the Lakers’ preference this offseason is to sign and trade Russell. But considering his market may have cooled off with the way the postseason ended for both Los Angeles and specifically Russell, it feels like the Lakers finding a sign-and-trade deal that works for everyone involved could be a very difficult task to accomplish.

If LA can’t find a deal for Russell, you’d have to imagine that they would re-sign him this summer. Letting him walk without anything in return this offseason is not happening. It can’t.  Nevertheless, that won’t stop the Lakers from trying to upgrade the roster – even at the expense of Russell.

As NBA free agency inches closer and closer, we explore three ambitious sign-and-trade deals centered around Russell that the Lakers should explore this offseason.
