In our latest NBA Mock Draft, the Dallas Mavericks take a huge gamble with a surprise riser.

Less than three weeks away, the 2023 NBA Draft is just around the corner. The official pre-draft process is very much underway and we should gain more and more clarity in the next couple of weeks. Now that the NBA Draft Lottery has been settled, at least the top of the draft is beginning to shape itself. After that, everything and anything is still very much an exciting possibility.

And there are many teams that will be under the microscope heading into what could end up being a chaotic night.

The Dallas Mavericks are under immense pressure heading into the 2023 NBA Draft

Heading into the offseason as a whole, there may not be a team that is under more pressure than the Dallas Mavericks. And it starts with their decision with the No. 10 overall pick in the NBA Draft. The Mavs need to continue to build around Luka Doncic and (hopefully) Kyrie Irving. They’ll have an excellent opportunity to do so with their top 10 pick.

Whether the team ends up keeping it or trading it, there’s no question that the Mavs don’t have much margin for error either way.

1. San Antonio Spurs – Victor Wembanyama, C, France

As much as ESPN may be pushing it (subscription required), there’s not going to be a surprise trade at the top of this year’s NBA Draft. The San Antonio Spurs are not going to trade the right to draft Victor Wembanyama.

There’s really not much else to say. Wemby is going to be a Spur and it’s going to be the start of something special in San Antonio.
