NBA Trade Rumors: LeBron James demanding a trade to the Dallas Mavericks wouldn’t be that crazy of an idea when you really think about it.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ miracle playoff run came to a disappointing end at the hands of the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals but heading into the offseason, there is hope that the LeBron James-led club could emerge as a championship contender once again next season.

And part of that could involve the Lakers making a move or two, perhaps even a big one, during the offseason.

One big move that many around the league believe could happen this offseason revolves around the Lakers acquiring Kyrie Irving either via trade or in free agency. However, that was completely turned on its head. All of a sudden, could a LeBron to the Dallas Mavericks move be a possibility?

Kyrie Irving wants LeBron James to demand a trade to Dallas Mavericks

According to a recent report, Kyrie Irving has done his job to reach out to LeBron James in an attempt to recruit him to the Dallas Mavericks. It would have to involve LeBron demanding a trade to the Mavs since he is still under contract through the 2023-24 NBA season, but it’s certainly something that’s going to emerge as a talking point heading into the offseason.

There are many different ways to break down this “report.” However, we must, at least to a certain extent, be willing to take this report at face value as well. What if Kyrie manages to successfully turn LeBron on to the Mavericks?

Even though it will be everyone’s instinct to completely disregard this report, I don’t believe that’s smart. At the very least, there are a few reasons why a potential trade demand from LeBron to the Mavericks would make sense. We explore three of them.
