NBA Trade Rumors: If Damian Lillard demands a trade away from the Portland Trail Blazers, he will likely be moved to one of these two teams.

Over the last few years, Damian Lillard has been one of the NBA’s best superstars. He’s also been viewed as a player who’s been “stuck” with the Portland Trail Blazers. But he’s been a great example of how a loyal superstar should be in the NBA. He hasn’t thrown a fit through the media and has trusted his front office through and through. Perhaps to a fault.

Nevertheless, he’s come to a point in his career where he’s willing to continue to give the Blazers another opportunity to build a contender or to let the franchise kick-start a rebuild by trading him. Quite frankly, it’s the most loyal thing that he can do for the Blazers at this point.

Essentially, heading into the offseason, Lillard has put the ball in Portland’s court. If they are willing to trade some of their long-term assets for players that can help Lillard win now, he’s going to stay. If not, then he’ll kindly ask the team for a trade. At that point, the Blazers can make a full effort at rebuilding.

Two teams that Damian Lillard would want to be traded to

Considering there’s a non-zero chance that Lillard ends up asking for a trade, there are many franchises around the league that are waiting patiently for their chance to pitch to Lillard.

That said, if Lillard doesn’t end up asking for a trade, the expectation is that the Blazers will send him to a team of his liking. I’d imagine that Lillard would give a list of his preferred destinations to the Blazers and then he would let them negotiate a deal.

According to Chris Haynes, who has a good relationship with Lillard, there are two teams that he believes would be of interest to him if traded – the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat.

Lillard would be a great addition for either one of those teams and theoretically, both would automatically become huge players in the Eastern Conference. Assuming Mikal Bridges can build off the second half of last season, the Nets would not only have two certified stars but they’d be a team with depth and talent all over the roster.

It’s easy to see why Lillard on the Heat would make them a clear favorite in the East.

For now, we just need to wait on Lillard and the Blazers. The ball is currently in their court.
