NBA Rumors: If he does find his way to free agency, Chris Paul could join the Golden State Warriors in pursuit of elusive NBA Championship.

Just a few months ago, with the Golden State Warriors quickly sinking in the Western Conference standings, the belief was that this team was on the verge of some possibly big changes during the offseason. However, even after losing in the second round of the NBA Playoffs to the Los Angeles Lakers in what will be remembered as a disappointing end to the season, the narrative has changed a bit for the Warriors heading into the offseason.

In fact, at this point, it would be shocking if the Warriors didn’t bring relatively the same team back. The way the Warriors closed the season, quite admirably, it’s almost as if they earned another shot. Plus, it doesn’t help when it’s being reported that Stephen Curry, the heart and soul of the team, wants the front office to give this core at least one more year together.

Less than a month away from the start of free agency, expect Draymond Green, who is eligible to test free agency this summer, to be back with the team one way or another. And if there are changes to the Warriors roster this offseason, they will likely be small adjustments.

According to a recent report, one of those small adjustments could include signing Chris Paul.

Why Chris Paul signing with the Golden State Warriors would not be a surprise

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned the Warriors as a potential landing spot for Paul if he does enter free agency this summer. The Phoenix Suns and Paul are reportedly discussing his future with the team and there’s at least a chance that Paul ends up being waived.

If that happens, there should be plenty of potential suitors, not just the Warriors. Paul would enter free agency and signing with a contender would likely be at the top of his list of priorities. The Warriors would rank high on the list of contenders. They’d probably be ahead of the natural candidates in the Western Conference – the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers.

Paul coming off the bench for the Warriors could rejuvenate the final few years of his career. At this point in his career, Paul is probably best suited as a sixth man or backup point guard. Even though he can be a spot starter, he’s probably not in a position where he can be an everyday starter.
