NBA Draft Rumor: Houston Rockets open to trading No. 4 pick

If there’s one thing we know about the Houston Rockets heading into the NBA Draft, it’s that they’re going be open to moving the No. 4 pick. This is a team that is ready to make the pivot to a win-now team and that means they have to be open to moving this draft pick for a win-now player.

From all indications, however, this is a Rockets team that is going to have to be blown away by an offer to pull the trigger. The Rockets are desperate to win, but they’re not dumb. At least we don’t think there are at the moment. At least for now, it would be surprising if the Rockets traded this pick just for the sake of making a trade.

While I do believe that the Rockets could very much trade down, I simply can’t see them passing on Amen Thompson. For any team looking to trade up, there are two targets that those teams will be looking for – Scoot Henderson or, maybe, Amen Thompson. Considering that Scoot will not be there at No. 4, I have a hard time believing they’re going to get a ton of can’t-pass trade offers.
