Dating back to the NBA Trade Deadline, the noise surrounding a potential OG Anumony trade has been loud. And it would not be surprising if the Raptors ended up pursuing a deal for him this offseason.
This trade Dejounte Murray to Toronto in exchange for Anunoby, pick No. 13 of this year’s draft, and a future first. With the potential that Fred VanVleet is not a Raptor next season, Murray would be a suitable replacement for the team.
This deal would allow Toronto to move on from Anunoby but to still be a competitive team in the Eastern Conference. As far as Atlanta goes, Anunoby would provide a good fit offensively while also possessing the skills to take on the opposing team’s scorer. This trade would also leave open spots at the 2-guard for Atlanta and more playing time for A.J. Griffin as he heads into his second season.
In addition, they have sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic, so they are clearly fine at the 2 if they were to make this trade. In terms of fit, both teams are arguably getting better with this deal. Pick No. 13 in this year’s draft is also nothing to slight.
There is always the potential of finding a diamond in the rough with this pick, or drafting a serviceable player who can either develop or help the team win right off the bat.
