The Pelicans trade Zion Williamson to Portland Trail Blazers
I think it’s pretty apparent that the Portland Trail Blazers are not going to be interested in a loaded draft pick offer from the New Orleans Pelicans. If they are going to even listen to offers for a potential deal for the No. 3 pick, the packages are going to have to be centered around stars. Thankfully, the Pelicans have a couple of options to meet those demands from the Blazers. And this first offer begins with Zion Williamson.
The Pelicans could create a package centered around Zion, Dyson Daniels, and the 14th pick in exchange for the second overall pick (Scoot Henderson) and Anfernee Simons. While this is a deal that you’d imagine the Pelicans would jump to get done (assuming they are somewhat turned off on Zion), I’m not so sure it’s that much of a slam dunk for the Blazers.
When Zion is healthy, he’d be a great start to partner with Damian Lillard. The problem is, he’s rarely been healthy through the first few years of his career. If the Blazers end up trading the No. 3 pick, it’s going to be in an all-in move. At this point, I’m not sure any team should be making an all-in move for Zion.
