OG Anunoby for Anfernee Simons swap

This is a pretty tame and simple trade idea to start off with. With the Toronto Raptors pivoting to a rebuild or retooling around some of their younger players, it would make sense for them to make a play for another young player. In this situation, Anfernee Simons would be that player. Even though Smons is only one year younger than Anunoby, he would give this team a breath of fresh air and one that would be open to the role that the Raptors would be asking of him.

There have been whispers that Anunoby has grown stale in his role with the Raptors. This is not a huge “youth movement” trade but it’s one that makes sense for how Toronto is pivoting heading into the offseason. To make it worth it for the Raptors, considering we still don’t know how good Simons can be, the Blazers would also throw in their 2023 first-round pick via the New York Knicks, which is the 23rd overall pick.

Even though it’s been reported that the Raptors might be ready to build around their young players, I can’t imagine they’re going to completely blow up their roster. But you’d have to imagine that if Anunoby isn’t traded, perhaps that means Pascal Siakam will be.
