A few trade targets that the Miami Heat could pursue this offseason in an attempt to find the “final piece” for an NBA Championship.

After an unexpectedly great playoff run, the Miami Heat fell short of becoming a historic NBA Champion. Nevertheless, they still became the first Play-In Tournament team to win a playoff series and NBA Finals. They also become just the second No. 8 seed to make the NBA Finals.

All that said, in the Heat organization, there are no consolation prizes. Fair or not, this season will be remembered as one that fell short of the ultimate goal of winning a championship. The good news for the Heat heading into the offseason, however, is that it appears they’re close.

You can make the argument that they’re one piece away from winning a title. Considering where this team was just a few seasons ago, that’s almost impossible to believe.

The Miami Heat is expected to go star-hunting this offseason

According to a recent report, the Heat is expected to go star-hunting this offseason. In an attempt to find a third star to place next to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the expectation is that the Heat is going to be aggressive on the star market this summer.

Assuming that ends up being so, and the Heat’s primary goal this offseason is finding a third star, we explore nine “final piece” trade targets the Miami could pursue.

Kyle Kuzma

If the Washington Wizards are thinking about a rebuild, they’re probably at the point where they’ve already decided to embark on one. That could open the door for Kyle Kuzma to seek other opportunities via free agency or trade. Kuzma could sign and trade to a team of his liking and the Miami Heat would make a lot of sense.

He’d be a welcomed sight at the power forward position as a great fit next to Bam Adebayo and would add another scoring element that the Heat desperately needed in this year’s NBA Finals. Kuzma would not be my first option if I was the Heat, but he would be a great fit and could be a final piece for this team heading into next season.

Of course, the corner with Kuzma lies with the big contract that he’s likely going to command. For as great as a fit Kuzma could be, paying him huge money could be the very reason why he doesn’t end up on the Heat.
