Zion Williamson to the Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly open to trading the No. 3 overall pick but would want an All-Star player in return. Zion Williamson is very much that and potentially much more. The question is, would the Blazers be willing to trade a big part o their future in order to trade away what could end up being a big piece of their future? In a vacuum, yes. However, when you start to take into account Zion’s injury history, it’s not that clear of a picture anymore.

The duo of Damian Lillard and Zion would do wonders in Portland. On paper, they’d have the ability to be the best-fitting 1-2 punch in the Western Conference next season. However, you can never assume when it comes to Zion. And that is what ultimately may end up costing a potential deal between the Blazers and Pelicans from happening.

If the Pelicans could get the Blazers to go along with this deal, though, they’d be set up for the future with Scoot Henderson (assuming he falls to No. 3), Shaedon Sharpe, and Brandon Ingram. And with CJ McCollum staying around, he’d give this team added veteran depth.
