Unrealistic – The Boston Celtics trade Jaylen Brown

One of the bigger headlining stories that are going to follow the Boston Celtics into the offseason is whether or not they intend on giving Jaylen Brown the supermax extension that he’s eligible for this summer. If they don’t, there’s a chance that Brown could ask out. Considering there have been Brown trade whispers in the past, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they circled back at some point this offseason. At least thus far, though, the Celtics have said all the right things – that they intend on re-signing him.

Though, could there still be a chance the Celtics trade Brown? I’d say no. At this point, the Celtics are kind of stuck. They either have to give him his extension or trade him without doing the “will they or won’t they” song and dance that often comes with it. I don’t believe the Celtics are trading Brown.

But even if they were going to trade Brown, it would be extremely unlikely to happen this soon. It’s not happening at the NBA Draft. If this is something that eventually happens, it would be after the contract discussions break down. We’re not anywhere near close to that possible scenario.
