NBA Mock Draft: Raptors trade into top 3; Heat land star in blockbuster move
10. Dallas Mavericks – Taylor Hendricks, F, UCF
The Dallas Mavericks could end up trading this pick but with the way it seems now, I believe that there’s a better chance that they make a selection and then figure something out later rather than making a trade just for the sake of making a trade. Assuming a trade is not on the horizon for the Mavs, I believe Taylor Hendricks will be the pick. Even though he’s still a raw player, he’s one that would make some sense for the Mavs moving forward.
Hendricks translates as a potential 3-and-D contributor that has the potential to be so much more if he develops on the offensive end of the floor. During his lone season at Central Florida, Hendricks averaged 15 points and seven rebounds on 39 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’d benefit from playing next to two great offensive players and that could end up helping him be a day 1 contributor.
But if the Mavs don’t see it that way, he would still offer value as a trade candidate. Ideally, the Mavs would find a difference-making veteran that could help the team this season. It remains to be seen if that will end up being the case.
