Obi Toppin, New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are coming off a great season. Heading into the summer, they will now be tasked with improving and adjusting the roster. However, with a recent report suggesting that Obi Toppin could be a player that the Knicks move heading into the NBA Draft, it’s clear it’s now a situation to keep an eye on.

Toppin has been an interesting and effective player for the Knicks since he was drafted eighth overall by the team in the 2020 draft. Though, with one season left before his contract expires, the Knicks must figure out if he’s a keeper or not.

With the Knicks this past season, Toppin averaged seven points on 45 percent shooting from the field. However, he did have several bright moments for the team in the playoffs. It was punctuated by an 18-point performance in Game 1 against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

If there’s a team looking for a big that could provide energy and a scoring punch off the bench, Toppin could emerge as a serious trade option on draft night. Especially if the Knicks are serious about trading into the back of the first round.
