After blowing a 3-2 series lead to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, you can assume there will be at least some changes to the roster this offseason. Those changes began with the Sixers pivoting away from Doc Rivers to Nick Nurse at the head coaching position. You’d have to imagine that’s just the tip of an iceberg of changes for the team. The next step in those changes could be trading Tobias Harris in an attempt to retool the team’s supporting cast.

Harris is entering the final year of his contract and will now be a more viable option to trade this offseason. It’ll be interesting to see what the potential return is, but he could be the key to giving this supporting cast a breath of fresh air. And now that James Harden is expected to re-sign with the Sixers, the offseason puzzle could be coming together.

The Sixers are close; considering how their season ended, it’s hard to deny that. The question is whether or not this team will push the right buttons this offseason to help them take a step forward heading into next season. If they do end up doing so, you’d have to imagine that trading Harris is part of that.
