NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Ambitious Tyler Herro trade ideas Miami Heat could pursue
The Damian Lillard pipe dream
This exercise wouldn’t have been complete without including a pipe-dream scenario in which the Miami Heat is able to land Damian Lillard. When it comes to Lillard, I’d have to see it to believe it. However, there is a potential path to getting to a potential deal if Lillard did demand a trade away from the Portland Trail Blazers in the next couple of weeks. They would need a third team to enter the fray to help complete the deal and the Utah Jazz would step up to the plate (or at least the Heat would beg them to).
In this deal, the Heat would send Tyler Herro to the Jazz and nearly every one of their assets to the Blazers. Specifically, Miami would sense Nikola Jovic, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Victor Oladipo, Kyle Lowry, Haywood Highsmith, their 2024 first-round pick, their 2026 first-round pick, 2028 first-round pick, and two pick swap opportunities (2027, 2029). The Jazz would also sense Ochai Agbaji to the Blazers. Portland would send two future second-round picks to Utah.
All in all, if Lillard does want to be in Miami over every other potential landing spot, this would be a fair offer for the Blazers to accept.
The next few weeks should be telling for the Heat. At this point, it would almost be surprising if they didn’t make a trade. The question is, will Tyler Herro be involved in any of those potential deals? There’s a good chance he will be.
