NBA Trade Rumors: If the Portland Trail Blazers don’t want to play ball with the Miami Heat, there are two other teams Damian Lillard could consider.
Over the weekend, Damian Lillard stole the spotlight away from NBA Free Agency as he finally (and officially) requested a trade away from the Portland Trail Blazers. He informed the team that not only did he want to be traded (as the team clearly pivots toward a youth movement) but that he would also like to be traded to the Miami Heat – a team that may in fact be a Damian Lillard away from winning an NBA Championship.
However, Blazers general manager Joe Cronin has made it quite clear that he’s going to look for the best offer that is going to put the franchise in the best position moving forward. And that might mean having Lillard give Portland a longer list of preferred destinations that doesn’t just include the Heat.
What if the Portland Trail Blazers refuse to trade Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat
There’s a very real possibility that the Blazers look outside of Miami to try and get a better package for Lillard. And if Lillard is willing to slightly move off his Heat preference, there’s a chance that this could end up being a huge win for both sides.
In trying to find a middle ground, there are two other teams (in addition to the Heat) that Lillard should be willing to consider if he’s hoping to cap off his great career with an NBA Championship.
