NBA Trade Rumors: Exploring five teams that find themselves in a position to take a flier on Ben Simmons.

With all eyes on Damian Lillard, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Brooklyn Nets tried to take advantage of the situation to try and move off the contract of Ben Simmons. It’s already been floated as a possibility and it would make some sense if the Nets emerge as a potential landing spot for Tyler Herro.

The question is, are there any teams that would be interested in taking on Simmons? At least on the surface, that could be easier said than done. Especially with many teams with readily available cap space having already burned through it after the first wave of free agency.

That aside, there are teams that should be willing to take a chance on Simmons. With his talent and potential upside, it would be foolish to think there isn’t one team in the league that wouldn’t be open to it. Let’s explore five that find themselves in a position where they should or could be willing to trade for Simmons.

Teams that may be in a position to take a flier on Ben Simmons

Utah Jazz

In the early stages of a rebuild, the Utah Jazz should be willing to take a flier on a player like Ben Simmons. With the level of upside that Simmons could have in a possible best-case scenario, taking a gamble on his contract doesn’t seem like that bad of an idea for a rebuilding team. For as bad of a contract as everyone seems to say he has, Simmons has just two years left on his current deal.

Considering that Simmons is still just 26 years old and still immensely talented, the Jazz should be willing to take a chance on him. However, that is now more complicated considering they took on John Collins early this offseason already. I’m not sure the Jazz would want to take on two projects in the same offseason.

In a vacuum, though, Simmons would make some sense in Utah.
