Washington Wizards

After making the pivot toward a rebuilding team, the Washington Wizards are a natural fit for a player who is looking to rebuild his reputation around the league. And a low-expectation spot like the rebuilding Wizards is not a terrible spot for Simmons. Much like the Utah Jazz, though, the Wizards have already taken a reclamation project in Jordan Poole. Add in the fact that they also just re-signed Kyle Kuzma, and there’s no guarantee that they’d be open to acquiring another big-salary player even if they were compensated with a first-round pick for doing so.

However, I would like to see Washington take some big swings considering they didn’t exactly get huge return packages for Chris Paul or Bradley Beal. And if absorbing Simmons’ contract gives them another useful asset, perhaps they would view it as a path worth exploring.

Plus, you’d have to imagine that Kuzma, even though he signed with the team, is not part of their long-term plans. That signing was likely more about retaining an asset that they could hopefully cash into something of substance down the line.

When it comes to Simmons, the Wizards are surely a team to keep an eye on, but at the same time not much of a likely landing spot.
