NBA Rumors: Making eight bold predictions for the latter portion of the 2023 NBA offseason.

With the NBA Draft, the frenzy of free agency, and the NBA Summer League pretty much in the books, the second half of the offseason (also known as the dog days of the offseason) is nearly here.

The news will slow down drastically and the league will pretty much hit a standstill over the next few days. But that doesn’t mean there still won’t be the opportunity for a few moves to be made. They will just likely be far and few in between.

Let’s make a few bold predictions for the second half of the NBA offseason.

Bold predictions for the remainder of the NBA offseason

A team signs and trades for PJ Washington

It’s actually quite surprising that PJ Washington is still a free agent at this point in the offseason. There’s a team out there that’s either going to get Washington on the cheap or he’s likely going to return to play for the qualifying offer, making way for him to be an unrestricted free agent next season. Either way, this is not an ideal situation for Washington.

In the end, I believe there’s going to be one team that steps up and makes a sign-and-trade offer to the Hornets for Washington. In fact, it’s been reported that the Hornets would actually prefer that outcome.

There are a few teams that would make sense for Washington, especially if it comes via a sign-and-trade. After the decision to bring back Miles Bridges and the drafting of Brandon Miller, the Hornets all of a sudden have a crowded frontcourt. It would not be that surprising if they decided to move on from Washington.
