Kelly Oubre Jr. signs a minimum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers

Almost equally as surprising as PJ Washington still being available is Kelly Oubre Jr. Coming off a season in which he averaged 20 points and five rebounds per game on 43 percent shooting from the field, there’s no question that Oubre should get an opportunity to build off last season. And probably with a healthy-sized contract. However, the market didn’t exactly develop for Oubre as he thought it would.

And at this point, it’s looking more and more like Oubre is going to have to sign a “prove-it” one-year deal, likely for the minimum.

One team that has emerged as a possible landing spot for Oubre, especially if he does end up signing for the minimum contract, is the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers are a team that has plenty of uncertainty surrounding them heading into the second half of the offseason but Oubre could emerge as a great low-risk, high-reward for the team no matter what ends up happening with Harden.

I predict that Oubre will sign with the Sixers at some point before the start of training camp.
