NBA Trade Rumors: A Miami Heat insider reveals what the team’s current offer is for Damian Lillard.

Damian Lillard has been consistent and clear with his desire to be traded to the Miami Heat. The Portland Trail Blazers, up to now, have not been willing to trade Lillard just yet. In the eyes of Blazers general manager Joe Cronin, he wants to take his time in finding the best possible return for Lillard.

Of course, the problem is, it’s been slim pickings for the Blazers after Lillard and his camp have spread the word that he only wants to be traded to the Heat. Naturally, that’s going to hinder a player’s trade value.

Longtime Heat insider Dan LeBatard had this to say about the current “negotiations” between the Heat and Blazers:

And if you connect the dots, you can pretty much map out what exactly the Heat offered the Blazers. It’s probably Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, and two future first-round picks (at the moment, they only have to trade eligible first-round picks).

LeBatard also notes that the two sides aren’t talking and there aren’t phone calls going back and forth. The Heat has made an offer and is not negotiating until a better offer comes around. I suppose that’s why there’s this reported impasse between the two teams.

Will it take another team to be involved for a Damian Lillard trade to come to fruition?

Considering where everything stands at the moment, you can’t help but wonder if it will take another team to get involved for either the Heat to be pressured to up their offer for Lillard or for the Blazers to find another offer they’re willing to pull the trigger on.

It may take that if either team doesn’t budge over the course of the next few weeks. In their eyes, there’s no reason for either of them to do so.

The Blazers believe they have all the leverage with Lillard under contract for the foreseeable future and the Heat believes it has leverage with the fact that Lillard has made it clear that he wants to be traded to Miami.

At some point, something has to change. There will eventually be another shoe to drop. It’s almost impossible to predict which side will end up winning this proverbial game of chicken. But it’s pretty clear that, for both teams, there is very much at stake.

It seems that the Lillard saga is going to drag on for a few more weeks, at the very least.
