Taking a look at 16 of the most impressive players from the 2023 NBA Summer League Tournament.
Now that the 2023 NBA Summer League Tournament is officially in the books, it’s the perfect time to look back at some of the best performances from some of the young, rising stars in the Association.
Let’s start with a few honorable mention players that probably didn’t need to prove their worth in NBA Summer League this season. Nevertheless, because of their showing, they deserve some praise.
Most impressive players from the 2023 NBA Summe League (honorable mentions)
Jabari Smith, Houston Rockets – As a player that probably shouldn’t have been playing in the summer league in the first place, it’s not a surprise that Jabari Smith was quite impressive. In two games played, Smith averaged 36 points, seven rebounds, and four assists on 49 percent shooting from the field.
Tari Eason, Houston Rockets – Tari Eason is another Houston Rockets player that dipped his toe a bit in the NBA Summer League slate. Also playing in just two games before he was shut down for the summer, Eason averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists on 29 percent shooting from the field.
Bennedict Mathurin, Indiana Pacers – As one of the more underrated rookies from last season, Bennedict Mathurin, who also just played in two NBA Summer League games, looked quite impressive and ready for a productive sophomore season with the Indiana Pacers after averaging 22 points and four rebounds per game.
Shaedon Sharpe, Portland Trail Blazers – With Damian Lillard likely on the move, Shaedon Sharpe is suddenly one of the faces of the Portland Trail Blazers. And if his stint in the NBA Summer League was any indication of his future, the Blazers might be in really good hands. In the four games he played, he averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game. He’s still very much a project but did have some flashes in the summer league.
