Trade offer No. 1: Blazers get complete control over Heat’s draft future and clear the books

In this first trade offer in which the Heat and Blazers would essentially be meeting in the middle, the Blazers would get their draft capital while also being able to essentially clear the books after the 2023-24 NBA season. They would receive four first-round draft picks from the Heat and pick swaps. They would also absorb the expiring contracts of Spencer Dinwiddie and Kyle Lowry. They would also get one of the Heat’s young players in Nikola Jovic.

The Brooklyn Nets would be a key role in getting this deal done by sending a 2025 first-round pick (via Phoenix) to the Heat to unlock two more draft picks for them to send to Portland. For playing ball, the Nets would receive Tyler Herro and Caleb Martin from the Heat. In addition to the first-round pick from Phoenix, the Heat would receive Damian Lillard and Jusuf Nurkic from the Blazers.

This seems like a fair deal for every team involved. The question becomes, can each of these teams get to a point where they’d be open to making such an offer? If the Blazers are more interested in getting young players, though, there is another possible option.
