These players didn’t quite make the cut for the top five but were notable performers in the NBA Summer League.

Two late second-round rookies drafted nearly back-to-back at #50 and #52 played quite well and deserve some praise for what they did on the floor despite not quite cracking the top five. Those two players are Oklahoma City’s Keyontae Johnson and Phoenix’s Toumani Camara.

Johnson has already signed a two-way deal with the Thunder, but there is a chance he outplays that. In five games played, he averaged 12.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game on 62.0 TS% (57.8/27.3/60.0 shooting splits). The 6-foot-5 wing out of Kansas State gets downhill and finishes quite well, which could make an impact at the NBA level. Unfortunately, he is entering a Thunder roster with a crowded wing room, featuring Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, Kenrich Williams, Isaiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins. To see NBA playing time, he likely needs to see an injury to a teammate or two.

Camara was the highlight of the Suns’ Summer League roster, unlike Johnson for his. Also unlike Johnson, Camara has already been signed to a standard deal. He plays as a roll and cut big despite being only 6-foot-8, leading him to average 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds on a 55.7 TS% (45.7/21.4/71.4 shooting splits) through four games. Camara may see legit minutes throughout the regular season, as he will compete with Drew Eubanks, Keita Bates-Diop, Chimezie Metu, and Bol Bol for backup big minutes.
